Deaconstar was started by Maureen and Billy Jordan after they started accepting adult placements, within a few short years Maureen was supporting more people than she expected and needed to expand. Soon she had another house in the same street and quickly spread to over 22 people and 7 addresses. Nicola Cook became Registered Manager and the service began to thrive. The philosophy being a large family and a very person centred but positive can do approach.
The service still is much as it was and is still growing. The service now boasts a day service called Dreamcatcher-PSP ( Personal Skills Promotion) and serves up to 28 people each day with a capacity for 30 clients.
The service prides itself in knowing everyone by name and being directly accountable to service users. It’s a fun place to work and we hope a great company in the field of supporting those with a learning disability.
